2. Don't rely on reputations
What do I mean by reputations?
Fantasy cricket is not all about big names, if that was the case everyone would have been a winner. Don't get baffled whenever you see big names.
There will be times when you will see a team on paper and say what a great team, they have so many big names, they are going to win. But the result may not be as you expected.This is not how cricket (or fantasy cricket ) works.
Important thing to be noted is that in fantasy cricket, you can't pick a player just because of his name. You have to see his form at the present time and his performance over the last few games.

3. Pitch condition and Analysis
Pitch plays a very important part in cricket, no matter how good a batsman or bowler someone is, if a pitch is not suitable for him, he may not be able to perform well.
Always keep yourself well informed about the present pitch conditions. If you know that the pitch is slow or fast, has good batting conditions or is ideal for spin bowling, it will be easier for you to pick your fantasy team.
Also analyse the performance of players before picking up the team. See their statistics in the last few matches, and pick players on their performances.
4. Prefer Top order batsmen
While picking batsmen keep in mind the position he plays at. Always prefer a batsmen who bats at 1,2,3 or 4. The reason being that they will be able to face maximum number of balls.
A batsmen batting at number 6 or 7, may be a genius but he may not face enough balls, so it will be not worth picking him in your team. There are chances he may not even get to bat.
Pick a number 5, 6 or 7 batsman if you are picking him as an all rounder, so that he can help you earn points with ball also.

MS Dhoni has not scored that much runs despite playing so many games because he bats down the order.
5. Pick Unfashionable wicket takers.
One thing to be noted about fantasy cricket is that you don't get enough points if someone is bowling economically. The criteria while picking a bowler should always be his wicket taking ability.
There are bowlers who don't get hit for more runs but don't get wickets either. On the other hand there are bowlers who get hit for runs but what they do is take wickets.
You need to find these wicket taking bowlers and pick them in your fantasy 11.
